Bactana operates out of southwestern Connecticut and upstate New York and is developing innovative products based on a patented technology exclusively licensed from Cornell University. The FPS-4™ product platform is based on years of research at Cornell University. At its core, FPS-4 is based on a naturally-occurring collection of ‘Pioneer Gut Colonizers™’ selected from the Faecalibacterium prausnitzii bacteria species which were initially identified for use in food-producing animals. Through this research, a unique collection of previously undiscovered beneficial bacteria strains derived from calves and swine were discovered, cultured, studied, and patented. These strains demonstrated improvements in weight gain, gut health, production yield and feed efficacy, as well as showing a reduction in mortality and health management costs.

Bactana’s FPS-4 product platform is also being used to develop other products lines based on its ability to trigger beneficial modifications to an animals immunometabolism.

It is generally accepted among the scientific community that antibiotic use in animals contributes to human resistance, posing a significant public health threat.

Bactana is working to overcome these problems by delivering safe, effective and inexpensive alternatives to antibiotics.
